Before you read the rules for "Musically Inspired Art Chairs", let's take just a moment to review this week's featured art and music in this game.

Did you know, the music of Claude Debussy called La Mer was created when the composer found himself inspired by the art work The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Katsushika Hokusai ("Hokusai and Debussy's evocations of the sea," 2014)? PREPARING FOR THE GAME CALLED
"MUSICALLY INSPIRED ART-CHAIRS GAME"

1. Relax and start listening to the music of Debussy. While listening, ponder on the photo of The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Katsushika Hokusai featured on the article provided above.
3. While listening, relax andread this provided article ("Hokusai and Debussy's evocations of the sea," 2014)
4. Save blank page in your sketch book,
5. Title your page with your full name at the very top of the paper.
6. Write the title, "MUSICALLY INSPIRED ART-CHAIRS GAME" below your name.
7. Return to this page when we are ready to play this game
8. Remember to bring your pencil and colored pencils when it the game is announced to be played during class.
9. Find your name in THE ASSIGNED COLLABORATION GROUPS list below.
During Studio Drawing time and the game is announced, the group will be asked to join your collaboration rooms in webex. Student #1 will lead the group by being in the host seat.

STEPS AND RULES FOR STUDENT #1 If you are lucky to have your name listed first or #1 in your assigned group, you will be the starter of this game!! When working on your home work, outside of class time, begin by turning on music that you really like. You will try to make your own inspired version of the art you see above. You will be creating your version before class starts. Draw the lines, shapes, forms and perspective you see in five minutes. Remember to draw it in your own style with colored pencils. In class, when you join the THE ASSIGNED COLLABORATION GROUPS during the studio time, you will start as the host and share your art with Student #2

In the future, the class will have ASSIGNED COLLABORATION GROUPS on webex, during the classes studio time.


HOW TO PLAY MUSICAL ART CHAIRS DURING CLASS WHEN THE TEACHER ASKS YOU TO JOIN YOUR ASSIGNED BREAK OUT COLLABORATION GROUPS.

When this day happens, Student #1 will host the group and stand up while getting the artwork in place for Student #2 to draw, Student #2 will try drawing standing up! Dance if you want! Once a good place is found Student #1 can props up or tape up the drawing they did before class close enough to the camera for Student #2 to draw and can sit down or dance if they want. All students will eventually take turns in order in their collaboration groups, till all students have art to share. While remaining your seat, enjoy the shared music, and continue on a a thumbnail, do it now or project till the host of the group says the five minutes is up. When it's your turn stand up and follow these directions below.

Student #1 will prop up the art so Student #2 can see it and set a timer for five minutes. Student #1 will let the group know when the five minutes is up. Student #2 will draw it while they share their own inspirational drawing music choice with the group. When done, Student #1 will make Student #2 the host.

Student #2 will prop up the art so Student #3 can see it and set a timer for five minutes. Student #2 will let the group know when the five minutes is up. Student #3 will draw it while they share their own inspirational drawing music choice with the group.

Student #3 will prop up the art so Student #4 can see it and set a timer for five minutes. Student #3 will let the group know when the five minutes is up. Student #4 will draw it while they share their own inspirational drawing music choice with the group.

Student #4 will prop up the art so Student #5 can see it and set a timer for five minutes. Student #4 will let the group know when the five minutes is up. Student #5 will draw it while they share their own inspirational drawing music choice with the group.
