Drawing with Shapes- Building a Head with Shape

STEP 1: PRELIMINARY LINES

WHAT SHOULD STUDENTS DO FOR STEP 1?

You will be drawing 4 lines that are 2 inches each to make an slanted x on the page. These lines are made up of right angles.

WHY SHOULD STUDENTS DO STEP 1?

Because, this will be the center of the head.

HOW DO STUDENTS PROPERLY DO STEP 1?

Softly draw the lines so they are easy to erase. Mark soft lines for the 2 inch marks. Trace the first slanted line across for two inches. Continue another two inches. Find the center of this line and draw two inches up and two inches down.

HOW DO STUDENTS PROPERLY DO STEP 1 (with no ruler)?

Visualize 2 inches, hold the pencil where these imaginary 2 inches are, mark your paper. Then find something flat.
