STEP 1: PRELIMINARY CIRCLE

WHAT SHOULD STUDENTS DO FOR STEP 1?

You will be drawing a circle.

WHY SHOULD STUDENTS DO STEP 1?

Because, this will be shape the top of the head.

HOW DO STUDENTS PROPERLY DO STEP 1 PART 1?

Affix the printed photograph image right next to your paper or maximize your laptop screen on a 11 inch wide monitor or on a 7 inch wide iPad. Smart phones are too small for this project.

In the center of your paper, lightly sketch a faint circle with your pencil (that is light enough that you can erase it later later). Make sure this circle measures 4" tall and x 4" wide.

WHERE DO STUDENTS FIND IMAGES TO DRAW?

You can download the full size of this image, or you can go to the sculpture in Pasadena across from the Pasadena City Hall and take your own photo of it. You can even draw it sitting right there. The most important step is to take a photo of it head on.
